Buzzcocks – Singles Going Steady

This compilation of singles celebrates a band that had vision and edge at the same time in a way that it’s very difficult to replicate without basically copying it, they perfected a sound that would come to be an identifier of the “Manchester” sound, their take might not be within that strict “punk” parameter for some, or vice-versa, could be the most accurate way to describe punk as a sound, I’ll let you decide that. but the music speaks for itself, while juvenile it’s well crafted and technical, precise but playful. every song has a couple of arrangements that take you by surprise, a couple of dissonant outbursts to remind you that there is a dangerous element to the otherwise pop music.
